The View’s Whoopi Goldberg blames Trump for Ebola response in Africa

On Thursday’s episode of The View, Whoopi Goldberg criticized President Donald Trump for not acting enough in regards to the Ebola outbreak currently taking place in Africa.
Goldberg said, “You know what’s really bothering me, you know, he’s doing all of this, people are dying all over the world, right? This Ebola thing is something—” and was cut off by Joy Behar saying, “with all of the USAID also.”
“That’s what I’m talking about,” said Goldberg. “When I look at all of the stuff that’s happening around the world, I think to myself, what are you doing? You—this bounces back and bites you in the butt. When people are ill and they’re traveling and there’s a possibility of bringing it, it means people can bring it here too.”
The Trump administration has said that it will send Americans exposed to Ebola while abroad to a facility in Kenya, as opposed to bringing them back to the US. The US has also temporarily banned the entry of people without a US passport or US green card holders if they have visited Congo, Uganda, or South Sudan within the past 21 days.
“Don’t you understand? We do all the things we do in the world as preventative, and I just, the Laissez-faire, the disregard for just about everything and everybody.”
The Department of State announced on Thursday that it had finalized plans “to allocate an additional $80 million in bilateral assistance to key partners on the ground to expand their ongoing response to the Ebola outbreak.” The funds would go towards PPE procurement and delivery, border screening, diagnostic supplies, and contact tracing.
