President Donald Trump on Monday vowed that he would secure a “far better” deal with Iran than the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) that President Barack Obama negotiated.

“The DEAL that we are making with Iran will be FAR BETTER than the JCPOA, commonly referred to as ‘The Iran Nuclear Deal,’ penned by Barack Hussein Obama and Sleepy Joe Biden, one of the Worst Deals ever made having to do with the Security of our Country,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “If a Deal happens under ‘TRUMP,’ it will guarantee Peace, Security, and Safety, not only for Israel and the Middle East, but for Europe, America, and everywhere else.”

Trump further called the Obama-era deal a “guaranteed Road to a Nuclear Weapon” and said “[i]f I did not terminate that ‘Deal,’ Nuclear Weapons would have been used on Israel, and all over the Middle East, including our cherished U.S. Military Bases.”

Negotiations to end the ongoing Iran war have stalled over conflicting demands from Tehran and Washington. The U.S. has sought a commitment from Iran to never possess a nuclear weapon, while Iran has demanded that the U.S. leave the region.

The conflict is currently under a temporary ceasefire, but could see hostilities renew when it expires.
