Canadian-American singer Paul Anka highlighted how Canada has seen a surge in crime amid mass migration.

During an appearance on Bill Maher’s “Club Random” podcast, Anka discussed how Canada has moved away from being a homogenous nation and the consequences that this decision has had.

“We’re not a homogenous nation here. You look at homogenous nations, Asian, wherever, different cultures, we’re not homogenous. That’s part of what we have to deal with. But that’s the greatness of America,” Anka said during the conversation.

Anka added that Canada has historically been homogenous, but “Only now are they feeling it,” noting that, “a city like Toronto, there’s over 400,000 immigrants, and their crime rate has gone through the roof.”

“Canada and England both,” Maher responded.

“I’m not saying it was better then, it was an all-White city,” Maher said. “And I think London now is like — I mean, it’s like I think 70 percent minority or something. This is called ‘progress.’”

“I’m always having to beg progressives to, like, enjoy the product you’re selling, progress,” Maher continued. “They really hate progress. You know, there’s something about their psyche that has to say, ‘No, we haven’t done enough.’”

According to a report by the Toronto Sun that cited Toronto Police Service data, major crime indicators in Toronto are up 30 percent since 2020. Assaults are up nearly 40 percent in th last decade, reported sexual violence is up 46 percent, and theft over $5,000 has nearly doubled. 

Other regions in Canada have faced the same effects. Data from the York Regional Police reportedly found that between 2019 and 2024, carjackings went up 523 percent, shoplifting went up 296 percent, arson went up 112 percent, and assault went up 59 percent.
