Every time you think MSNOW couldn’t possibly get any worse, somehow they pull it off with ease.

This week, host Katy Tur seemed absolutely puzzled over some recent comments from House Speaker Mike Johnson saying that as Americans, our rights come from God and not the government.

Has anyone at MSNOW ever read any of America’s founding documents? They’re pretty explicit on this subject.

Is it too much to ask that people who get paid to talk about politics on TV have a basic understanding of American civics?

Katy Tur: What about this passage from Mike Johnson declaring that our rights do not derive from government? They come from you, our creator and heavenly father. Is this him putting God over the Declaration of Independence?

McKay Coppins: I actually think that that idea is not wholly uncommon. I mean, the idea that we have certain inalienable rights that come from god can be read in a fairly benign way, which is basically that we have innate human rights, that our constitution and our government, our democratic government are meant to codify. Right. That idea is not totally abnormal.

The largest and most prominent display of Christian nationalism in the United States during the second Trump administration took place on the National Mall on Sunday, with the full backing of the federal government in the White House and leadership in Congress.

The Rededicate 250 rally — featuring President Donald Trump, House Speaker Mike Johnson, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and a who’s who of religious right figures — has a stated purpose: to “rededicate our country as One Nation Under God.”

It’s the most aggressive repudiation of the Constitution’s guarantee of religious freedom that the Christian nationalist movement has yet attempted on American soil. And it begins with a lie hiding in plain sight, right there in the event’s name.

The left despises the idea that America was founded as a Christian nation with Judeo-Christian values.

They tell us so all the time.
