Wesley Hunt SLAMS Whoopi Goldberg over false claim Trump will break up interracial marriages with deportation

Republican Congressman Wesley Hunt responded on X to comments “The View” host Whoopi Goldberg made regarding race. Goldberg, who has a long history of making inflammatory racial comments, suggested that Donald Trump was attempting to break up interracial marriages with deportation.
“He’s going to deport you and put the white guy with someone else,” Goldberg warned in October 2024, saying that the president will separate interracial marriages.
In a recent post responding to Goldberg’s comments he said, “That is so funny to me,” Hunt said. “My wife and I agree about things in life, about how to raise our children. We have similar beliefs in God. We grew up in a very similar kind of background. My wife grew up in a very conservative area of this country. I am from Texas, and now we have three beautiful children.”
Hunt, who is in a biracial relationship himself, explained how his color-blind approach to love has shaped his marriage.
“At no point in time was I really concerned with what she looked like,” he said. “I was concerned more with what do we have in common? What do we agree on? Is this someone I can spend the rest of my life with? At no point in time did it make me less black because I fell in love with someone who wasn’t.”
Hunt went on to point to the radically different backgrounds he and his wife’s parents came from.
“My kids are going to have grandparents who grew up in the segregated South in New Orleans and grandparents who grew up in the Midwest”, he said. “Two diametrically opposed areas, but they find out that there is love from both sides of this family even though they have different experiences.”
Hunt’s remarks quickly gained traction online, with supporters praising his emphasis on shared values and family over racial differences. The exchange highlights the continuing role that race, identity and interracial relationships play in America’s political discourse.
