An albino buffalo in Bangladesh has become a viral sensation because of its hairstyle that resembles the signature hair of President Donald Trump. However, the buffalo is expected to be sacrified for the Islamic holiday Eid. 

The buffalo, which lives on a farm in the town of Narayanganj, has attracted visitors from across the area and built a social media following over the past four years. The animal has also been given the same name as the president. Owner Zia Uddin Mridha said he purchased the buffalo about ten months ago and did not initially notice the resemblance.

“My younger brother jokingly named it Donald Trump after seeing the hair on its head,” he told NDTV.

Mridha also told AFP that the name was inspired by the buffalo’s “extraordinary hair.” He said crowds regularly visit the farm to see the animal, which has become widely shared online.

Visitors have poured water over the buffalo’s head and brushed its hair into a comb-over style, tucking it between the animal’s horns to enhance the resemblance.

“It is very calm in nature. Albino buffaloes are generally peaceful and do not become aggressive unless provoked,” Mridha said.

When comparing the buffalo with the president, Mridha said the two share little else beyond their hair.

“The only luxury he enjoys is bathing four times a day,” Mridha said

Despite the publicity, Mridha said that the animal is expected to be slaughtered in the coming days during the Islamic holiday Eid al-Adha, a festival that traditionally involves animal sacrifice. Millions of livestock, including goats, sheep, buffaloes, and cows, are expected to be slaughtered during the celebrations.

“I am going to miss Donald Trump, but that is the core spirit of Eid al-Adha — making a sacrifice,” Mridha said.
