Trump warns U.S. can’t live with ‘shackles’ of birthright citizenship

President Donald Trump on Thursday warned that the United States could not endure the consequences of birthright citizenship ahead of an expected Supreme Court decision on the matter.
“The United States of America cannot live with the shackles of Birthright Citizenship. It is not economically, or otherwise, sustainable, and no other Country in the World, of consequence, does it!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
The Supreme Court issued a series of opinions on Thursday morning, but did not release its highly anticipated ruling on Trump’s executive order directing federal agencies to interpret the 14th Amendment as not granting citizenship to the children of illegal aliens.
The administration has sought to eliminate the longstanding interpretation of the 14th Amendment so as to crack down on so-called birth tourism and “anchor babies.”
Though the Court has already heard oral arguments, it has yet to issue its opinion.
