In October of 2025, after a decade of corruption, far-left Georgia Democrat Stacey Abrams’ nonprofit, ‘New Georgia Project’ (NGP) announced it was shutting down.

The twice-failed Democrat Georgia gubernatorial candidate created the nonprofit in 2013 to get out the black vote.

Abrams has repeatedly claimed, without providing any evidence whatsoever, that Georgia Republicans engage in black voter suppression. She blamed her previous crushing election loss to Brian Kemp on black voter suppression.

The nonprofit’s closure came after the Georgia Senate launched an investigation into both Abrams and the organization for illegal fundraising activity.

The Senate committee announced at the time that the investigation would “focus on alleged campaign finance violations and possibly the recent New Georgia Project firings allegedly tied to efforts to unionize the voting rights organization.”

NGP was slapped with a $300,000 ethics fine for illegal campaign fundraising in January of 2025.

Fox News was the first to report that the Senate Special Committee on Investigations announced the investigation is ramping up and a top lawmaker is vowing to ‘follow the facts wherever they lead.’ Subpoenas have been issued to Abrams and other key figures, including NGP leaders Lauren Groh-Wargo and Nsé Ufot, to appear before lawmakers at the State Capitol at 10 a.m. on Friday.

Per Fox News:

The Republican lawmakers explain in the press release that the goal of the probe is to figure out who was involved in the decision-making behind the violations, along with specifics on how the funds were managed and who was aware of the activity.

Georgia’s Republican Lt. Gov. Burt Jones said in the release, “No one is above the law in Georgia.”

He added: “When organizations secretly spend millions to influence elections while evading disclosure requirements, it undermines confidence in our democratic process. The Senate will continue pursuing the truth and ensuring accountability, regardless of political party or influence.”

Abrams responded to the hearing with a statement on X.

She said in part, “Today, the Georgia State Senate delivered a subpoena for me to testify in a partisan, performative hearing designed to intimidate and disarm voting rights advocates across Georgia and the nation.”

“Despite the hollow, cynical intent, I will indeed do so on a mutually agreeable date.”

“It is not lost on me that I am being summoned days after the U.S. Supreme Court gutted protections for minority voting power and after I testified against the unconscionable voter suppression process unfolding across several Southern states.”
