Sen. Rand Paul Calls Out DOJ — Warns Agency Has Only ONE WEEK LEFT to Charge Fauci For Lying to Congress About Gain-of-Function

Senator Rand Paul just fired a direct shot across the bow of the Department of Justice.
In a blistering post on X, Paul declared that the DOJ has ONE WEEK left to finally charge Former NIAID chief Dr. Anthony Fauci Dr. Anthony Fauci for lying to Congress about funding gain-of-function research at the Wuhan Institute of Virology.
Here’s what Paul wrote:
“The DOJ has ONE WEEK left to charge Anthony Fauci for the worst cover-up in modern medical history. He lied to Congress about funding gain-of-function research in Wuhan. Millions died. Trillions were spent. And Fauci walked away with book deals and fawning media coverage instead of handcuffs. I re-upped my criminal referral to the DOJ because the evidence is overwhelming, and justice has been delayed long enough.”

In 2021, Fauci clashed with Senator Rand Paul during Senate hearings. Fauci looked the American people in the eye and denied that the NIH had funded gain-of-function research in Wuhan.
“Dr. Fauci, as you are aware it is a crime to lie to Congress, Section 1001 of the US Criminal Code. Critics say a felony and a five-year penalty for lying to Congress,” Rand Paul said in 2021.
Months later, the NIH was forced to admit they did fund the very research Fauci swore under oath never happened.
In July 2023, Paul formally criminally referred Fauci to the DOJ.
Then in July 2025, Paul announced he would reissue the criminal referral, this time to the Trump DOJ, after it was revealed Fauci had received a shady autopen “pardon” from Biden that wasn’t even properly approved.
The New York Times reviewed some of the emails that the National Archives handed over to the Trump DOJ as part of their investigation into the autopen scandal and confirmed that Fauci’s pardon was not approved by Biden. Rather, “White House Chief of Staff Jeff Zeints actually approved pardons for Dr. Fauci and others on January 19,” they report.
“Biden did not individually approve each name for the categorical pardons that applied to large numbers of people, he and aides confirmed,” the Times reported.
Now, with the statute of limitations expiring, Paul is giving the DOJ one final, public ultimatum.
The American people deserve better. Will the DOJ finally act before it’s too late or will the worst cover-up in modern medical history go unpunished?
