The first official casino in New York City to offer table games opened Tuesday as Resorts World New York City launched a major expansion at its Queens location.

Resorts World, which has operated slot machines in Queens for more than a decade, unveiled a massive expansion that saw over 240 table games. The facility, located near the Aqueduct Racetrack in Ozone Park, now features its entire third floor dedicated to table games alongside thousands of existing slot machines. Games include blackjack, craps, baccarat, and roulette.

The casino’s Malaysian-headquartered parent company said the expansion has created more than 1,200 jobs in New York City, including 950 dealer positions.

“We are changing the landscape of New York City with a building that will never close. This is literally going to be the world’s largest casino,” said the casino’s chief strategy officer, according to the New York Post. “This is historic. This is going to be a tectonic shift.”

The expansion drew praise from local officials, including Democratic Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato, who said the venue has helped transform Queens into a destination spot.

“I like to gamble. A great steakhouse with parking, here? I like to have a drink. Live music? A great cold drink right here? This is a game changer, locally,” Amato said. “We are the borough to be at now! We are the destination.”

Rapper Nas, a Queens native and partner in the project, attended the grand opening ceremony and performed at the event.

“This is just the beginning. So this is about to expand and do things that everyone’s going to be excited about. So Queens is where it’s at,” he said, according to CNBC.
