A Nebraska man has been released on bond after he chased two young girls and police said that when he was questioned about the incident, he answered saying that he wanted to sexually assault them.

Zachary Vinton, 34, was released after paying a $2,000 cash bond. He is facing multiple charges in connection with the incident, which took place on Thursday near 196th and V streets. Vinton is accused of attempting to sexually assault two girls aged 11 and 12 years old.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office of Omaha, Nebraska said in a post on X, “Douglas County Corrections pre-trial release staff gave Vinton a risk score of 1 out of 4, the lowest score. Vinton is currently under the pre-trial supervision of the Douglas County Department of Corrections.”

“The DCSO is actively working with Corrections and offering assistance to co-supervise his release. Sheriff Hanson will pursue all possible legal and enforcement options to keep children safe in that neighborhood. The DCSO is also increasing patrol activity in the Arbor Gate neighborhood and 196th and V Street area where the initial attempted sexual assault took place, which is also the neighborhood in which Vinton lives,” the office added.

Deputies have said that Vinton has faced similar accusations in the past, according to WOWT. In response to the incident, the Gretna Public Schools in the area has said that its students have been told to use the buddy system for their safety as he has been let out on bond.
