The Minnesota Lynx held a moment of silence for anti-ICE agitators Renee Good and Alex Pretti ahead of their season opener, where the team later went on to lose its first game of the WNBA season.

Prior to tip-off, the arena jumbotron displayed black-and-white images of both Good and Pretti as an announcer asked the crowd to observe a moment of silence.

“We continue to extend our love, support, and heartfelt sympathy to Renee and Alex’s families, friends, and our community,” the announcer said before asking fans to join in a moment of silence. 

During the tribute, one attendee was heard yelling “f*ck ICE,” prompting cheers from members of the crowd.

The Minnesota Timberwolves held similar tributes earlier this year, including a January moment of silence for Good before fans began chanting against ICE. The NBA team also later honored Pretti with a similar pregame tribute.

Good was fatally shot on January 7 after allegedly positioning her vehicle toward ICE agents during a confrontation in Minneapolis. Pretti was shot on January 24 following an altercation with ICE agents while reportedly armed. Their deaths quickly became flashpoints for anti-ICE demonstrations nationwide amid opposition to the Trump administration’s immigration enforcement policies. 

The Department of Homeland Security said it was leading an investigation into the case of both Pretti and Good. In March, Minnesota sued the federal government and alleged that the state was being blocked from investigating the shootings.
