Former first lady Jill Biden bid $35,000 at an auction for a role in the upcoming second season of “Heated Rivalry,” a popular show depicting a gay romance between players from rival hockey teams.

She bid on the package, which included a role on the show and dinner with the cast, during a dinner at the NYC LGBT Community Center on Thursday.

“Guess I won’t be heading to the cottage after all – but it was worth a shot!” Biden posted to X after the event, referring to one of the main character’s lakeside Canadian cottage.

The TV series based on the Game Changers book series by author Rachel Reid, though highly rated, sharply divided conservative and liberal commentators and media when it debuted last year.

“‘Heated Rivalry’ Is Getting Conservatives Hot and Bothered,” read one Vanity Fair article in January. The New York Times also warned “Americans Are Turning Against Gay People,” citing polling data that show acceptance of gay people has sharply declined from its 2020 peak. Conservative commentators criticized the show especially for its sexual content.
