In a newly unveiled DHS funding bill by Senate Republicans, lawmakers have proposed $1 billion for security measures related to Trump’s White House ballroom project. This comes after another attempt on Trump’s life at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in late April.

The reconciliation bill released by Senate Judiciary Chairman Chuck Grassley states that $1 billion should be appropriated to the US Secret Service “for the purposes of security adjustments and upgrades, including within the perimeter fence of the White House Compound to support enhancements by the United States Secret Service relating to the East Wing Modernization Project, including above-ground and below-ground security features.”

The bill states that “none of the funds made available under this section may be used for non-security elements of the East Wing Modernization Project.”

This is a breaking story.
