Two US Naval fighter jets collided in midair at the Mountain Home Air Force Base in Idaho during an air show on Sunday.

Rescue crews responded to the scene on Sunday, according to the Idaho Statesman. The crews on board the planes were “able to eject,” an announcer said at the scene.

“We had four good parachutes,” the air shower announcer told the crowd present. “The crews were able to eject. They’re located one mile south of where the smoke is. The parachutes came down.”

“Crash fire rescue and various other emergency services are on their way to the pilots and crew. There were four good parachutes. That is always a positive in our world. If you are so inclined to take the time now to say a prayer,” and announcer said in a follow-up statement.

The planes appeared to collide together in the sky and then come crashing down as there were several parachutes deployed around the planes. The jets then came crashing down, creating a fireball and plume of smoke when they hit the ground. The emergency response on the scene included a helicopter.

This is the first time in eight years that the Mountain Home Air Force Base has put together the air show. The base was locked down following the midair collision.
