President Donald Trump said Sunday that the Cole Allen, the man accused of the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner had a manifesto, expressing hatred toward Christians, describing the suspect as “a very troubled guy.”

Speaking on Fox News, Trump said the alleged manifesto showed a pattern of anti-Christian sentiment and referenced concerns raised by a relative to law enforcement.

“When you read his manifesto, he hates Christians, that’s one thing for sure. He hates Christians, a hatred, and I think his sister, or his brother, actually was complaining about it. You know, they were even complaining to law enforcement. So he was, he was a very troubled guy,” the president said.

Authorities say they have recovered writings connected to the suspect as part of an ongoing investigation into motive. Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche confirmed in an interview on NBC’s “Meet the Press” that investigators have “some writings,” adding the inquiry remains in early stages. He previously indicated the suspect may have targeted Trump administration officials.

Trump said investigators are developing a clearer picture, though details are still coming in. “Well, they have some pretty good information,” he said. “He had a lot of hatred in his heart for quite a while. … It was a religious thing, it was strongly anti-Christian. And I don’t know if you’ve gotten it, it just got released, the manifesto.”
