Multiple players on the Cleveland Browns openly dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ during a Sunday event where members of the team were baptized. The Christian gathering had prayer, worship music, baptisms, and testimonies from those present. 

The event included Browns quarterback Shedeur Sanders, running back Raheim Sanders, cornerback Tyson Campbell, safety Daniel Thomas, and the team chaplain Nobles C. Darby, according to Outkick. A post from social media account Christhlete highlighted the event with a post on Instagram.  

“Beautiful moment as a group of Cleveland Browns players hosted the ‘Cleveland for Christ’ event in Berea, Ohio, on Sunday evening. The gathering featured prayer, worship, and baptisms, with NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year Carson Schwesinger among those who publicly declared their faith through baptism,” the post said.  

Schwesinger acknowledged his commitment to Christ publicly, and was asked if he believed that Christ died on the cross and rose again to take away his sins. “Are you ready to make Him the Lord of your life?” he was asked before getting baptized. 

“Yes,” Schwesinger responded, and added that he was ready to dedicate his life to Christ. 

Video showed the group of players praying together, listening to testimony, and sharing their faith in their community.  

Well-known pastor Franklin Graham posted to X in response to the baptisms, “Congratulations to linebacker Carson Schwesinger and other Cleveland Browns players who were baptized as a public expression of their faith in Jesus Christ this weekend!”

The events take place as there has been an uptick in young men saying that religion is important to them in recent years. According to a recent Gallup poll, the number of young men between the ages of 18 and 29 who say that religion is very important to them has hit a 25-year-high.
