Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif announced Sunday that a peace agreement between the United States and Iran has been reached following what he described as intensive negotiations, with an official signing ceremony scheduled for June 19 in Switzerland.

In a statement posted to social media, Sharif said both sides had agreed to the “immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon.”

“Following intensive talks, we are pleased to announce that the Peace Deal between the United States of America and Islamic Republic of Iran has been REACHED,” Sharif wrote.

Sharif said mediators would facilitate a series of meetings this week ahead of the agreement’s implementation and the formal signing ceremony. The Pakistani leader credited the mediation efforts of Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, thanking their leaders for helping secure the agreement.

The announcement came shortly after President Donald Trump posted on social media that “Iran will never have a Nuclear weapon, and the Strait of Hormuz will be opening up for business very shortly!!!”

Neither the White House nor Iranian officials immediately released additional details regarding the reported agreement.
