Stacey Abrams claims GOP states ‘incubate evil’ to ‘farm it out everywhere’

Failed Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams has claimed that there are no longer “red and blue” states, but that they are “authoritarian states and democracy states” in the nation. She also claimed that in the south, conservative states “incubate evil” and then “farm it out everywhere.”
MS NOW host Michael Steele was speaking to Abrams, as they were talking about Tennessee Republicans splitting up the only Democrat-controlled seat in their state ahead of the 2026 midterms. He then said that the upcoming elections will come down to how much voter turnout the Democrats can get in different states, as they lamented the Supreme Court deciding that race should not play a factor in the drawing of district boundaries.
Abrams then said, “We have to understand is that there are no longer blue states and red states. There are authoritarian states and democracy states. There are states that do not believe in the right of the people to have a say, who want to aggregate power and foment corruption.”
“And there are states that want to guarantee that in this country, we have free and fair elections, we have access to the remedies that democracy is supposed to deliver, and that no matter what goes wrong in one part of the country, that the quality of your citizenship does not depend on your zip code and your geography,” she added.
She then added that the “regime” of conservative states “believe that Christian nationalism should be the law of the land” as well as that women should be “relegated to simply serving as vessels for a man’s intention” with proto-natalism.
“If you believe that white supremacy should be allowed to diminish the value of everyone else, then you want authoritarian states to win. But if you believe in democracy as the currency of America, then you want California and New York, you want every state that’s willing to fight back to do so,” she added.
She later said that in southern red states, “they incubate evil here, but they farm it out everywhere. But we also incubate the solutions here. And we know we can win this fight.”
The comments from Abrams come as Democrats and Republicans have been trying to tilt the scales in their favor through redistricting to get more seats come the 2026 midterm elections. Democrats in Virginia just had their new map struck down in the state Supreme Court. The map would have turned the 6 Democrat seat to 5 GOP seat state to a likely 10 Democrat to GOP seat state.
