REVEALED: Acting TSA Administrator Ha Nguyen McNeil is open borders, DEI advocate who worked under Obama admin

It has been revealed that President Trump’s Acting TSA Administrator, Ha Nguyen McNeil, has a history of advocating for open borders, as well as diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies. McNeil has been leading the agency since April 2025, records show.
Jack Posobiec, senior editor of Human Events, was the first to report on the matter, revealing McNeil’s previous history with the Obama-Biden administration, which included reversing Trump’s executive orders on border security during Joe Biden’s 2020 presidential transition.
McNeil, an alumnus of Obama’s National Security Council, worked as the Chief Operating Officer of the Business Software Alliance (BSA) from September 2019 to April 2021. She was reportedly recruited by BSA CEO Victoria Espinel, former tech czar for Barack Obama. Additionally, Espinel was McNeil’s boss while working in the Obama White House.
In November 2020, the BSA released a now-deleted 27-page report titled “BSA Policy Recommendations for the Biden-Harris Transition Team.”
The suggestions recommended then-President Biden rescind Trump’s executive orders and implement a variety of leftist policy objectives, such as open immigration and DEI programs. According to Posobiec, a proposed policy section titled “Reset Immigration Policies to Support Non-Citizen Workers and their Families,” included making DACA protections permanent, strengthening the H1-B visa program, and increasing green card eligibility. Screenshots of the archived report were featured in the post.
Another section, titled “Support Private Sector DE&I Initiatives,” encouraged the Biden administration to rescind Trump’s executive order on “Combating Race and Sex Stereotyping,” which was intended to combat leftist ideology claiming that America is a racist and sexist country. The report also included “racial justice priorities.”
Additionally, it is alleged that McNeil publicly opposed President Trump and his agenda on her LinkedIn page during her time with the Biden administration.
This comes as the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has been shut down by the federal government since February, due to ongoing attempts made by Democratic lawmakers to block funding for US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) amid a crackdown on illegal immigration.
Posobiec questioned, “Does anyone believe a leftist like [Nguyen] is on the president’s side of the DHS shutdown fight?” One of the agencies most impacted by the shutdown has been TSA. “Despite her anti-MAGA record,” Posobiec continued, “she’s now in charge of 60,000 TSA employees and its $12 billion budget,” noting that the agency is “crucial to President Trump’s immigration and national security agendas.”
