A Fairfax County court on Tuesday sentenced a 19-year-old illegal immigrant to 180 days in jail following a series of gropings of female students inside a Virginia high school.

Israel Flores Ortiz, originally from El Salvador and reportedly in the US illegally since 2024, was convicted on nine counts connected to hallway incidents at Fairfax High School. Judge Melinda Vanlowe handed down the sentence.

Court records show Flores Ortiz was charged as an adult but tried in juvenile court because most of the victims were minors. He was convicted in nine cases, acquitted in three, and one charge was dismissed. Prosecutors initially alleged he assaulted 13 female students, according to Fairfax Police.
